idk in my opinion twitter is good for having a chat basis with your followers, although it compresses art into low-ish quality jpegs, instagram is a good way to plain and simply show someone all your works at once ( esp for normles who don't know abt dA ), tumblr is good if you like to throw your art into a black hole that might end up going through a wormhole ( unless you post fandom art, then there's more of a chance someone will see your art ), furaffinity can be good for more clients and getting paid more for commissions, but if you get grossed out easily by intense fetish art ( i know there's a no-nsfw option, but there's bound to be posts that get posted without the nsfw warning by accident ) i wouldn't recommend it. i also wouldn't recommend facebook unless you like drawing like, pet or people's portraits. lots of moms and dads on there. but hey that's me and my limited experience
i know wysp exists, but no one really actively posts there and its really easy to forget abt for some reason
I just signed up for instagram. So far, I think it’s okay, except I don’t like being forced to crop my work beforecI post it. I don’t really know what the algorithm thing is, but my friend says there’s a new place popping up that promises not to do that?? I can’t remember what it’s called, but it starts with a V. Verb, maybe? I asked my friend and she said it was called Vera.
Up until the most recent algorithm changes, Instagram was ideal for gaining a following and faithful commissioners. Now, I'm not so sure. Twitter perhaps? I hope things go well with this Vero app that's been circling about lately, if they give Instagram a run for their money maybe they'll put the chronological feed and algorithm back to normal!
I vote twitter since I use it way more than other social media, however I don't actually see a lot of art there, isn't good for networking/getting commissions/etc, and I feel like a lot is lost (tumblr as well) when you don't have an organized comment system
Honestly FurAffinity has been MUCH better for me artwise. I know it's mostly the type of art I do but the community there is much more involved and open for things like commissions. I've been on DA over twice as long as I've been on FA, and my FA follower count is over double what I have here. So I dunno!!! It's been really good for me at least
